Kelantan Folks Who Like To Spend And Pay Cash, A Factor In Al-Quds Travel's Success

KOTA BAHARU, April 14 (Bernama) -- The pattern of Kelantan folks who like to spend and pay up in cash has been cited as among the main factors for the success of Bumiputera tourist company, Al Quds Travel Sdn Bhd, and its continued progress in income over the years.

Managing Director of Al-Quds Travel Sdn Bhd, Wan Mohd Zamri Wan Salleh said this special attitude of the Kelantanese, has indirectly helped strengthen the finance and earnings of the company.

"Since the company was established 10 years ago, we have yet to experience a drop in income and have recorded increases involving the sales of various tourism packages offered according to customers' needs.

"Beginning with an income of RM1 million in 2000, Al-Quds last year derived RM17 million in income and what is unique is the income came 100 per cent from Kelantan folks," he told reporters after a ceremony held here today in conjunction with the company appointing Malaysia Airlines as its agent.

He said the Kelantan people frequently carried out their Hajj and Umrah obligations and during the first quarter this year, Al-Quds Travel sent 600 people to the holy land of Mecca.

"At the same time, more than 400 Kelantan people travelled to China, besides other world destinations including Europe and Japan," he said.

Meanwhile on today's event, officiated by Managing Director of MAS, Datuk Tengku Azmil Zahruddin Raja Abdul Aziz, Mohd Zamri said that Al Quds Travel appointed MAS as its agent in order for the Bumiputera tourist company to enjoy priority when booking flight tickets for its customers and enjoy good discounts for destinations the airline flies to.

Datuk Tengku Azmil Zahruddin said the partnership between MAS as the appointed agent by Syarikat Al-Quds Travel was an effort towards developing the tourism sector in Kelantan, specifically Kota Baharu.

He said the experience of Al Quds Travel as a travel agent for almost 10 years gave MAS the confidence to cooperate and give the company's customers special privileges.

Al-Quds Travel currently has branches in Kuala Lumpur, Kuching, Kota Kinabalu and Kuantan.

The company also provides hospitality services through its Al-Quds Hotel & Resort, which has started operations at Wisma Al-Quds here.
